SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The Strength and Conditioning Coach will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a strength and conditioning program to promote the health and wellness of all St. Louis CITY SC first team athletes. This role will be a key contributor in improving athlete performance, reducing potential injury, and enhancing lifelong fitness and movement skills. This is a full time position.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Design and implement strength training and conditioning programs in‐season, off‐season, and pre‐season for first team athletes in a manner that reflects research‐driven practices and our Club’s commitment to the welfare of our athletes.
  • Work in cooperation with the sports medicine or athletic training staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.
  • Support and facilitate a collaborative relationship among St. Louis CITY SC coaching staff.
  • Conduct an annual needs‐analysis for the first team in conjunction with the Director of High Performance, Head of Sports Science and sports medicine department at the conclusion of each sport season.
  • Assists the Goalkeeper and Specialist coaches, as needed.
  • Maintains all applicable continuing education and certifications as required.
  • Lead gym based and end-stage return-to-play protocols (RTP`s) in conjunction with sports medicine department, sports science and coaching staff.
  • Contributes to the overall success of St. Louis CITY SC by performing all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years’ professional soccer experience in the field of strength and condition, fitness, performance, sports science
  • 5+ years` of professional coaching experience
  • Minimum of USSF “C” soccer coaching license
  • BS in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field, required. Master’s Degree in similar fields, preferred.
  • A current relevant professional certification credentialed by independent accreditation agency – for example, NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
  • Current first-aid, CPR, AED, certifications.
  • Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
  • Strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training.
  • Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be properly used by athletes, and visually monitor athletes during the use of those techniques.
  • Strong motivational abilities.
  • Dynamic interpersonal communication skills that enhance the ability to positively interact with athletes, coaches, parents, and the public.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in varying degrees of noise, temperature, and environments (both indoors and outdoors).
