LOCATION: City Football Academy; Orangeburg, New York
POSITION SUMMARY:
Support the Head Coach in planning and delivering training sessions and fostering talent development, with a primary emphasis on Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for player growth.
The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to design and execute daily training sessions, focusing on high-quality coaching practices and advancing the Individual Development Plans (IDPs) of elite players.
This role is instrumental in implementing and maintaining NYCFC II’s coaching philosophy, ensuring alignment with the club’s overarching development framework. The Assistant Coach will collaborate with staff across the First Team and Academy to support long-term strategies for identifying, recruiting, and nurturing elite talent.
- Daily Training Delivery
- Assist in planning and executing training sessions that reflect the Club’s philosophy and methodology.
- Lead and integrate specific IDPs into training sessions to address player development goals.
- Session Planning and Coordination
- Collaborate with the Head Coach to plan, oversee, and manage both practices and matches.
- Maintain detailed daily and weekly training logs that align with the session builder plan.
- Player Development and Feedback
- Provide personalized and actionable feedback to players through their IDPs.
- Conduct regular performance reviews with players, units, and key stakeholders to track progress and set goals.
- Collaboration with Staff and Stakeholders
- Work closely with Academy and First Team staff to foster alignment in player development strategies.
- Assist in identifying and assessing potential recruits for NYCFC II.

- Analysis and Reporting
- Use performance data and analysis tools to address individual and team needs, with a particular focus on IDP objectives.

- Create a stimulating, engaging, and growth-oriented training atmosphere to inspire players to reach their potential.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Experience: 8+ years of coaching experience at the academy or collegiate level (ages 18+).
- Licenses: USSF ‘A’ License (strongly preferred).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Proven ability to work independently, with enthusiasm, flexibility, and self-motivation.
- Leadership and organizational skills to manage a dynamic training environment.
- Reliable transportation for consistent on-time arrival at the work site.
- Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Compliance with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policies and any other applicable child safety guidelines.
